First, and honestly, most needed is your Prayers. We believe that God has called us from early on in our lives to be parents of an adopted child. To be married and realize that we both had this strong passion only confirmed to us that it was God's calling. We believe in God's timing and feel that now is the time. We also believe that our God is a God of provision. With our prayers and your prayers asking for guidance, finances, positive outcomes and a speedy process, we have no doubt that God will hear them and do what is best for our family. This is very exciting, as well as a bit scary. Prayers to combat the battle that Satan will put up against us is also strongly needed!
Next, Advice. Some of you reading this have been in our spots before. We are not experts, and are open to any advice you may be willing and comfortable to give. We may be going down a different road than you did to get your little love, but will appreciate any and all advice given!
Another way you can support us is to Buy. Sometimes even when we give, it's also nice to receive. Kind of a way to remind us that our heart is where our money is. Lastly, we all know that adoption is not without a great financial commitment (25,000 on the low end!) , and so we need your Donations. This is our least favorite and most uncomfortable thing to ask for, yet God is good and many of his provisions come from those who love and care about us as well as complete strangers. We want you to know how grateful we are for any financial help you give toward our adoption. We also want to be ethical and transparent about how we use the money that is given to us so that you can be sure your money is going where you intend it to go.
Here are a few things we want you to know when you donate to our adoption fund:
- Money donated through our PayPal account (the "Donate" buttons) is subject to a PayPal fee of 2.9% + $0.30 for each transaction if paid by credit card. This means that if you donate $10 to our adoption fund, we only see $9.41 of it (or if you donate $100, we only see $96.80). We feel these fees are totally worth the ease, security and accessibility that PayPal offers, but we want you to know that a portion of your donation will go toward these fees. If you have a PayPal balance or a bank account set up on your PayPal account, these fees can be avoided.
- Your donation will not be tax deductible. We wish it could be, but the time and cost associated with becoming an eligible non-profit is simply not within our means. If you have other questions about this, contact your accountant - he or she is probably much smarter than we are!
- We have set up a separate bank account specifically for our adoption donations. We want to be sure there is no confusion between our day-to-day money and the money you have given us specifically to fund our adoption. Our PayPal account is linked to this bank account and any other donations will also be deposited directly into this account.
- Should you ever want to know details of the costs associated with adoption, please do not hesitate to ask. We promise to keep excellent track of every penny spent in this process so that we can be responsible for your generosity.
